PMA Photo collection

The visit to the Photo Department with Peter Barber was interesting.  It showed me how highly competitive that world of curating is to work in.  Just having a degree is not necessarily enough. Peter was very passionate about his work and if we had more time with him talking about photos, it would be a marvelous depth of knowledge to tap into.  The collection must be astounding in size and breadth.

Also, when we asked him about how he evaluates a photo for purchase for the collection, was a great insight.  He doesn't necessarily understand the work and it may not seem that it will be a killer photo for the future and he didn't necessarily have a magical insight that we are yet to learn. He may purchase it on a hunch, some knowledge or the creditability of the artist.  Well worth seeing.
